The "Street Workshop of the City of Rivne" project activated urban planning processes in Rivne.

During May - September 2020, in Rivne, with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Executive Committee of the Rivne City Council, together with the partners of the NGO "Agency for Sustainable Development of the City" and the "MOST" Architecture and Design Workshop, they implemented the urban project "Street Workshop of the City of Rivne" .

What was done within the project

1. A creative hub has been created in Molodi park (Lebedinka) - a new public inclusive city playground where a static stage with lighting, a ramp and seating for 50 people, paving around, etc. is arranged. This space will be a place for the presentation and generation of new ideas and projects that will contribute to the further development of the city of Rivne, the discussion of important issues of urban development, the cultural and artistic life of Rivne, and for the promotion of public initiatives.

2. They united the thematic community and activated the issues of urban planning and architecture in Rivne. Join the community https://www.facebook.com/rivnemaisternia.

3. We created a series of video lectures about successful cases from urban planners and architects, using the example of the cities of Kyiv, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil, to share experience, knowledge, and inspiration. The following topics were revealed together with the speakers:

#1. Water-green corridors of the city.

#2. Preservation of the city's cultural heritage.

#3. Greening of the city and urban spatial planning strategies.

#4. Shared memory in urban space.

#5. CANactions School is an educational platform in the field of architecture and urbanism.

#6. About a barrier-free environment: how to create it not only for people with disabilities.

#7. Mobility in cities. Public transport.

4. Held "Urban Online Forum Rivne" and presented current urban spatial projects and important topics:

Block: public space

"Architectural competitions in Rivne: Na Vola square and the memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and ATO Soldiers."

5. The history and interesting facts about the architecture, urban design and urbanism of the city of Rivne were studied and visualized in the street interactive exhibition "ABOUT THE CITY", which is located in Molodi Park on the territory of the hub. Three-sided metal pillars, which are displayed at different distances from each other, allow more interaction with the exhibition. 16 facts have been posted and 32 QR codes have been created leading to the IZI.TRAVEL site. Where each block contains information in Ukrainian and English: audio guide, text, photo, geolocation.

6. The two-day urban workshop "Urban Workshop Rivne" was held Lebedinka Park - a course for modernization" whose participants, in addition to architects, urban planners, designers, were public activists, students, psychologists, landscapers, cultural managers and historians. The existing condition was studied and new ideas for the transformation of the park were developed. How the workshop took place can be viewed here:

Thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund, the project "Street Workshop of the City of Rivne" became and is a unique magnet and platform for the creation of new trends and meanings in our local urban space. All activities are aimed at popularization, study, planning and creation of the city of Rivne jointly by the community and local authorities. The creation of similar hubs in the city and region will be useful for city communication and a general understanding of priority areas of community development.
